So, I just saw the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer during it’s Superbowl spot, and I felt the need to say a little something about it:
Taking what is, probably, the worst part of The Lost World and rehashing it for this film may not be the smartest idea. For those of you that don’t know what I am talking about, I am talking about the last part of Jurassic Park: The Lost World where a dinosaur runs a-muck in San Diego, California. And, from what I could gather from that trailer, Fallen Kingdom is rehashing that plot line.
It’s also sticking with it’s whole “Genetically-Engineered Dinosaurs”, which I’m not the biggest fan of.
Listen. The Jurassic Park series is my favorite. Yes, even the third one with the weird dream raptor.
And, I’ve been freaking PSYCHED about Ian Malcolm returning. But, like, Jurassic World disregards the last two films. It only recognizes the first one. So, are you going to put Ian Malcolm through the whole “Dinosaurs are on the main land” thing again. Why would you do that? It didn’t go over real well the first time.
Jurassic World has it’s problems. For instance, all the publicity about a “strong, female character” and then it turned out that the only reason anybody was calling her that was because she could run through the jungle in heels (which is really just stupid. Girl, look at your job. Why wouldn’t you wear work appropriate shoes? I mean, you are supposed to be a direct follow up to Ellie Sattler, for goodness sake.) But, I still had hope for the follow up. A small part of me still does because I don’t want to believe that Spielberg would produce a Jurassic Park movie that is terrible, but I guess we’ll see.
Have you seen the trailer? What are your thoughts? Am I being overly worried? Am I not worried enough? IS IAN MALCOLM GOING TO BE OKAY? Share your thoughts. Thanks.
