Now, I’m going to try to do something that I don’t normally do, which is writing a spoiler free review. If I do talk spoilers, they’ll all be placed at the very end of this post.

Here we go.

I was told before going in to see Avengers: Infinity War to forget everything that I think is going to happen because none of it is going to happen and I will be shook. That person was right. Holy hell.

The concept of this film ran the risk of having a very convoluted, messy script. There are so many stories that have to be told and so many characters involved that it can be difficult to piece them all together in a coherent manner. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely do a well enough job. It’s not perfect, but it works. The film does feel disjointed from time to time as we jump between stories that are happening simultaneously. And, if you’re not one that’s a fan of these Marvel films, you may have a hard time following along. Regular Marvel movie-goers should have no problem, however.

The Marvel films over the last ten years have all had different directors, all with their own visual style. Some, however, not showing it as much as others. The Russo Brothers do a nice job of taking all of those films and looping them into one coherent visual piece. I would also just like to say here that I’m so happy that Anthony and Joe Russo are finally getting the recognition that they have deserved for so long (#SixSeasonsAndAMovie).

Infinity War is equal parts action, drama, and comedy, I would say. The most enjoyable part was watching all of these characters that the audience loves, like the Peter Quill and Drax, Doctor Strange and Iron Man, all come together. That is a lot of strong personalities and watching everybody play off of each other is a joy. Honestly, I would watch a whole movie of all the current Marvel heroes just interacting with each other during a dinner party.

Being that Infinity War is a Marvel film, there is, of course, an end credits scene, this time all the way at the very end. And the only thing that I want to say about this scene is that it is a beautiful segue into the future of Marvel films.

So, there you have it: my spoiler free review.

Thanos is a solid villain, mainly because he is not just one dimensional. His concern is that the universe is overpopulated, which is a huge contributing factor to poverty and hunger. That is completely valid. His methods of fixing that, however, are really what make him a villain. Killing half of a population is brutal. HOWEVER, the whole reason he wants all the Infinity Stones is so that he can kill half the population in a painless way. Well, painless for those who are dying, painful for those who remain. I am not saying that Thanos is right. What I am saying is that I can see where’s he’s coming from and that all of his intentions are good.

Now, if you don’t want to know who dies, don’t continue reading, because I’m about to spoil the two that hurt me the most.

Bucky and Peter Parker.

Sweet Jesus. Bucky’s was mainly sad due to his last words being “Steve?” But, Peter Parker’s death, now that was rough; him apologizing to Tony Stark right before he withered away into nothing. The writer’s knew just how to kick you right in the heart with that one. I will say that, with so many people dying all at once, I’m not actually all that worried, considering some of the characters who died also have movies that will be coming out, so that lessens the blow a little bit.

I will forever be mad at Peter Quill because, dammit, they nearly had that freaking gauntlet off Thanos’ arm.

Also, for the record, Thor has become one of my favorites. Thank goodness they took him in the direction that they did with Ragnarok.
