47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019)

I have never reviewed 47 Meters Down on this site, so let me briefly tell you what I think of that film. 47 Meters Down is a shark film filled with inaccuracies (as most shark movies are), but I will watch it anytime it is streaming. So, it comes as no surprise that I went to see the “sequel” 47 Meters Down: Uncaged in theaters. I gave them my money.

The only expectation that I had going into this film was that it was going to be factually inaccurate and bad. And, I was right. But, it’s a bad film in the way that Deep Blue Sea is a bad film. And, it also has nothing to do with the first film, other than it is a film about sharks.

But, it’s not only a factually inaccurate film about sharks. Oh no. It is a factually inaccurate film about BLIND sharks. They’ve lived in these underwater ruins so long that they no longer can see so they hunt their prey by sound. I loved the ridiculousness of the entire thing.

Is the premise good? No. Is the acting good? God no. Did the makers of this film do research about anything in this film? Probably not.  But, is it an enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes? Absolutely.
